Angļu valodas stundas nebūtu iedomājamas bez lasīšanas, jo noteikta daļa no angļu valodas grāmatās atrodamajiem uzdevumiem ir saistīti ar tekstu, kurā atrodamas atbildes uz uzdotajiem jautājumiem. Svarīgi izprast, vai skolēniem interesē šajos tekstos atklātais. Ir zināms, ka mūsdienu jaunieši dažādu iemeslu dēļ maz lasa, vai dažreiz pat brīvajā laikā nepavada ne minūti lasot. Te var uzdot dažādus jautājumus, tomēr, vērtīgāk būtu tam meklēt risinājumus un skolēnus iedvesmot brīvajā laikā, atpūtas brīžos sēdēt ar grāmatu klēpī. Diplomdarbs „Ārpusklases lasīšanas uzdevumi 8. klases skolēnu mudināšanai lasīt angļu valodā” tika izstrādāts ar mērķi izpētīt problēmu par skolēnu pamudināšanu lasīt angļu valodā. Tas bija nepieciešams, jo skolēni var gūt ievērojamus labumus no patstāvīgas lasīšanas, kļūstot par prasmīgākiem un pārliecinātākiem valodas lietotājiem. Tā kā mūsdienās pusaudži arvien vairāk pavada brīvo laiku pie datora vai televizora grāmatu lasīšanas vietā, diplomdarba mērķis bija izpētīt kā ārpusklases lasīšanas uzdevumu pielietošana mācību procesā var pamudināt skolēnus lasīt angļu valodā. By reporting on two teaching experiences in the context of the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language, this study reviews the role of extensive reading and ways to implement it in the foreign language classroom. One of the projects -the practice of extensive reading through free reading time in the classroom- serves as the basis for the second, Handcrafted books , in which the student begins as a reader and then becomes an author. The present work is descriptive in nature and it introduces the theoretical framework that supports each project, guidelines for its im plementation, and participant reactions.

Maģistra darbā tiek pētīta ekstensīvās lasīšanas ietekme uz skolēnu spēju veikt lasīšanas uzdevumus. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek izklāstīts lasīšanas jēdziens; darbā apskatītas pamatskolas skolēnu problēmas lasīšanā, kā arī ekstensīvās lasīšanas loma, tekstu izlases kritēriji un efektīvas lasīšanas stratēģijas. Šī darba mērķis ir palīdzēt vidējā zināšanu līmeņa skolēniem apgūt lasīšanas stratēģijas. The following paper examines, from a multimodal perspective, a counseling sequence between a teacher and a student in the tenth grade at an Italian high school during a lesson of Extensive Reading in German as a foreign language. After an overview of the state of research on counseling during the lesson and a description of the function of counseling in extensive reading, there follows the presentation of the methodological procedure for the analysis. Lai gan plašā lasīšana ir guvusi atzinību tiek praktizēta daudzās valstīs, Latvijā tā joprojām tiek maz izmantota. Although one of the keys to improving language ability lies in the continuous and prolonged exposure to the target language, providing learners with the opportunities in the EFL environment is not easy.
